Raul Valdivia-Murgueytio - Raul joined MUNDI in September 2005. Previously, he worked for the third sector in Nottingham and the local council in Nottinghamshire. Raul started his career in Peru, where he worked for several non-governmental organisations and the Ministry of Health.
From 2005 to 2008, Raul has been responsible for the implementation of MUNDI’s major international project called Háblame, a school linking initiative between a group of primary schools in Nottingham and Coahuila, Mexico. The aim of this project was to engage pupils and teachers in a critical debate about their role in a global and interdependent world, to develop a sense of global citizenship, and to encourage them to learn a modern foreign language at the same time. Háblame has been extremely successful in terms of achieving its goals and it has shown the full potential of school linking and the many learning opportunities this methodology has to offer.
Raul will now be focused on fundraising and also looking at some education projects. He is also interested in establishing partnerships with similar organisations like MUNDI within the East Midlands region and research centres working on global education.
Raul holds a BA in Psychology from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and a MSc. in Health Promotion and Health Education from Edinburgh University. He has also recently completed a MA in Global Citizenship, Identities and Human Rights in the School of Sociology at Nottingham University.
