MUNDI Mission

MUNDI is a Global Education Centre based in the School of Education, University of Nottingham . Our mission is to promote, through education, a critical awareness, understanding and knowledge of global development, citizenship and sustainability issues in order to enact change towards a more equitable sustainable world.

MUNDI works in partnership with a variety of statutory and non-statutory organisations to support education practitioners ( predominantly in Schools, Universities and Early Years settings in Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands region) in developing the skills, knowledge, values and attitudes of children and young people to enable them, as active global citizens, to critically engage with global issues and perspectives and promote equality in the following three ways:

•  Training and workshop provision

•  A free resource centre

•  Projects

MUNDI was formed as a registered charity in January 1989 - number 701124 – please refer below for a link to download a full copy of our constitution. It is run by an elected Board of Trustees who meet every six weeks to make key decisions and to maintain an overview of the management of MUNDI's work. MUNDI is a regional member of the East Midlands Network for Global Perspectives in Schools (EMNGPS) and a national member of the Development Education Association (DEA).

As a charity most of our funding is gained from project-based grants and core income to support our work with schools. Current funders include the UK Department for International Development (DfID), Oxfam and Christian Aid. This core income supporting our work with schools comes mainly from DfID as part of their Enabling Effective Support Strategy (EES) and is used primarily in planning and delivering training events in partnership with a variety of local statutory and non-statutory organisations. This EES income, however, is not guaranteed in the future and as part of a long term funding strategy MUNDI is planning to earn consultancy income from future provision of training events for schools. MUNDI is a not-for-profit charitable organisation and all fees received from earned income are used in support of furthering the mission of the charity (e.g. subsidising the free resource centre) and are not distributed to any shareholder(s).
