Multi School Training Events

MUNDI works in partnership with a variety of statutory and non-statutory organisations as part of the East Midlands Network for Global Perspectives in Schools (EMNGPS) to support teachers by planning and delivering two multi-school training events every year.

In the academic year 2006/7 the two events were:

Developing the global learner - making a positive contribution – 5/10/06

This event offered support in developing cross-curricular initiatives and themes in schools which could lead to evidence for the School Evaluation Form (SEF) in terms of ‘Making a positive contribution', e.g.

  • Pupil Voice/School Councils
  • International School Award/School Linking
  • Healthy Schools
  • Global Dimension
  • Education for Sustainable Development/Eco Schools
  • Teachers International Professional Development (TIPD) visits

Supporting your school to achieve the DfES International School Award (ISA) – 25/4/07

This event offered support for anyone involved in education in Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County from KS 1 – 4 in applying for one of the three categories of the ISA: Foundation, Intermediate and Full through training, networking opportunities, presentations of international school linking case studies, information giving and supporting teachers in conducting an initial audit of which level of ISA is most appropriate for your school .

Staff, parents and governors from Dunkirk Primary School held a staff meeting at MUNDI on 29 th June 2004 to examine resources available in order to incorporate a global perspective in the curriculum

Thank you very much for our extremely worthwhile visit to MUNDI. Very well organised and delivered. Most interesting and useful from both parent and teacher point of view. Our children will certainly gain a wider appreciation and curiosity for our world through your resources.

Following on from this staff meeting Dunkirk Primary have negotiated with MUNDI to run the following two workshops for children:

•  Food and homes from around the world for years 1 and 2

•  Sporting Cities/heroes/heroines and Kick Racism out of football for year 6

Advice on whole school policy development, e.g.

•  support in gaining the International school award

•  support in applying for grants from the DfID Global School Partnership/British Council

•  support in incorporating multi-cultural, anti-racist and/or global perspectives within the school ethos and curriculum:
